Piney Point Maryland Wedding | Sharon & Mike
A multicultural fall wedding was everything Sharon and Mike had imagined!
Sharon and Mike’s love story began in 2016. They met while teaching in South Korea. After they left South Korea, they did a year of long distance, with Mike being in the US and Sharon in Canada. Fast forward to today, they are happily married and experiencing life together as a married couple!
Sharon and Mike held their wedding at Mike’s family property in Piney Point, Maryland, with 120 family and friends. They had the most supportive family base with all hands on deck, from the wooden triangle arbor hand built by the groom’s dad to the dessert buffet baked by the groom’s grandmother and other family members. All of their family members played a huge role in their wedding day.
Chinese tea ceremony
They celebrated their marriage with a multicultural wedding day, a western-style ceremony, and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. “A Chinese tea ceremony represents harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. It is a wedding tradition where the bride and groom serve tea to their respective families, which usually includes both sets of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other older family remembers.”
Their attire for the tea ceremony was stunning! Mike wore a Chinese red mandarin collar jacket, while Sharon wore a floor or ankle-length red cheongsam (qipao) dress featuring a mandarin collar.
Their Chinese tea ceremony was an experience to remember! The room was filled with their guest who witnessed their ceremony. Their china was beautiful tea cups with a gold brim and carefully designed art.
After the Chinese tea ceremony celebration, Mike and Sharon prepared for the second ceremony of the day, and they changed into their western ceremony attire. The second ceremony was held on the back lawn overlooking Saint George Creek, which made for a beautiful backdrop. After the ceremony, the sun began to set. We headed to the boat dock, where I photographed cinematic portraits as the sun set over the water.
Their night ended with great music and great food. You couldn’t ask for a better night. Sharon and Mike, I enjoyed learning about and photographing your beautiful multicultural wedding, and I wish you and your marriage an eternity of happiness and joy!
